My Current Favorite People Are Pixelated!

Who are your current most favorite people?

The Ones Keeping Me Sane Today

You ever notice how your “favorite people” change depending on the season, the moon cycle, or whether your neighbor’s cousin’s dog kept you up barking until two in the morning? Because right now, if you asked me who sits at the top of my Most Favorite People list, I’d have to confess something slightly ridiculous.

It’s the residents of Dreamlight Valley.

Yes. Digital cartoon neighbors. I know. Trust me, I hear it too. But the way these Valley folks have been holding me together lately, you’d think we were sharing a mortgage.

This morning, for example, I logged in thinking I’d clear out a few pumpkins and mind my business. Next thing I know, Goofy is giggling at absolutely nothing, and suddenly I’m laughing too. Not because he said anything profound. Not because he’s wise. But because sometimes you just need a tall, questionably employed man in overalls to remind you joy can be stupid and still count.

Then there’s Scar, slinking around the Sunlit Plateau acting like he pays property taxes. Listen. I don’t trust him farther than I can throw him, but I respect a man who speaks his mind. And by “speaks his mind,” I mean insults me directly while I gather chili peppers. Honestly, it’s refreshing. Human beings usually warm you up with small talk before they attack your character. Scar gets right to the point. Efficient.

Meanwhile Merlin is lecturing me again. I know he thinks he’s giving sage advice and ancient wisdom, but half the time it sounds like he misplaced his glasses and blames me for it. Which is fair. I misplace my own things and blame other people all the time. I call it emotional delegation.

But my true ride-or-die, my unexpected emotional support creature, is Stitch. That chaotic blue gremlin understands me on a molecular level. We don’t even speak the same language, yet somehow he always knows when my soul is fraying like Dollar Store yarn. He just waddles over, makes a little gremlin noise, and suddenly I remember I am loved. Possibly by an alien. But loved nonetheless.

Dreamlight Valley residents show up. They sparkle. They vibe. They give quests instead of stress.

Honestly, they might be the healthiest relationships I’ve got right now.

And if that’s not growth, sweetheart, I don’t know what is.
